the winter storm that wasn't

Meteorologists are one group of people who don't always have to get it right! I certainly give them major props for what they do though... they are trying to guess the weather!

What we have to remember, however, is that their predictions aren't perfect. From what I heard, this past weekend was supposed to contain the biggest winter storm in forever... or something like that. Since we traveled, we had to keep a close eye on it. We decided to travel anyway - made the decision despite the potential of a snow storm and bitter cold - and it all turned out okay. We were going to stay longer and ended up leaving early to make sure we missed it and we did.

Which makes me think, we should always rethink our worry. Rethink what is making us shake in our boots. Not every worry will come true exactly. The worry about the storm proved untrue, so that worry wasn't worth it. We won't always know when our worry will be right, but that's where caution and prayer will come in. That's why Paul writes in Philippians 4:6-7

"Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
